List Format Description

First Line: Author) The first line begins with the main entry, which is generally the author if a personal author. If the authority name is not shown on the work, differences are shown in [brackets]. For works not by a personal author the first line shows the title.

Non-Author) Editors are noted (ed); translators are noted (trans); compilers are noted (comp).

Copies) For multiple copies the quantity is shown in (parentheses).

HOLLIS Number) The next entry is the Harvard Libraries' HOLLIS database filename shown in <angle brackets>. If the edition/publisher found in HOLLIS is different, is not shelved at Cambridge, or is available in microform only, it will be noted. Works not found in HOLLIS are indicated <NOT FOUND>.

LCCN) At the end of the first line is the Library of Congress Catalog Card Number (LCCN). If no LCCN was found, the entry (LCCN not found) is shown. 

Second Line: This line shows the title of the work (or author if the main entry is the title). If not the first edition the edition number is shown in (parentheses). If our copy is signed by the author, it will be noted in {curly braces}.

Third Line: This line begins with place of publication : publisher, and year of publication. If the work did not explicitly indicate the date as the publication date, the year is shown in [brackets]. Copyright dates are prefixed with a c. If known, original publication dates are also noted.

Paperback) If the work is softbound, the notation (PB) is shown.

Pamphlet) If the work is in pamphlet form, the notation (PL) is shown. In this list a pamphlet is anything bound as a single signature and stapled.

LC Call No.) The last entry is the Library of Congress Call Number shown in [brackets]. All items are labeled and shelved by this number.

New Additions) New items added starting January 2000 show the month and year added to the collection between backslashes, .e., \month and year added\.
